Lam Soon chooses Desmet Ballestra

Lam Soon reports to have selected Desmet Ballestra technologies for its new project in Thailand.

The project includes a complete 300 TPD physical refining plant and dry fractionation.

The Lam Soon Group is a fully integrated group of companies in the palm oil industry from plantation/oil milling to refinery, soap and detergent manufacturing and oleochemicals, to the marketing and distribution of branded consumer products. It has operations in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Hong Kong.

New refinery in Colombia

Agudelo Muzzulini & Cia, a family owned company from Cali, Colombia with a long history in the rendering and tallow business, has chosen Desmet Ballestra for its new 100 TPD physical refinery. They plan to branch out from tallow and also process palm oil and refined soybean oil in the new facility.

Agudelo Muzzulini & Cia reports that the investment was made for its new company called Refinal SA.



08/05/2009 Partnership of OriginOil with Desmet Ballestra

OriginOil, a leading algae process development company from Los Angeles, California,
USA has announced a partnership with Desmet Ballestra for commercializing their patent
pending algae oil extraction technology.

OriginOil has developed a novel process for lysing algae cells and separating the oil from the spent algal biomass and water in a single step. By extracting algae oil in the water-rich phase, significant energy savings can be realized by minimizing dewatering and drying energy.

Desmet Ballestra will be working closely with OriginOil to further evaluate and scale up the algae oil extraction technology. Our mutual goal is to offer pilot scale extraction systems to the algae oil industry in the near future.

The company Jiujiang Jiasheng has selected Desmet Ballestra fractionation technologies for their first oils & fats production plant of 600TPD Palm Olein  in China.

The company Jiujiang Jiasheng moved from the position of a trading company into a production company.

Desmet Ballestra has been selected as technical partner thanks to the outstanding technologies, very broad process and application knowledge and fast customer support.



21/04/2009 New refinery for United Oil Processing & Packaging

The company United Oil Processing & Packaging reports to have selected the Desmet Ballestra Technologies for the implementation of its new refinery.

The new project includes a 600 TPD palm oil refining plant and a 350 TPD Fractionation plant with 'Mobulizer' crystallisers.

United Oil Processing & Packaging is also the first company in Egypt using the  enzymatic degumming for soft oils with the support of Desmet Ballestra partner Novozymes. The new plant will be implemented in Cairo-10th of Ramadan.

New contract for Syria

The company Anadani Group selected Desmet Ballestra as technical partner for their new extraction and refining project in Syria. The project includes a complete 500 TPD solvent extraction plant and 100 TPD refining plant for soft oils including bleaching/winterising and deodorising technologies.

The plant will be implemented in Idleb-Syria. Anadani Group is a well established company in Syria. Their main business activities are in the olive oil field, they have also existing extraction and refining plants for olive kernel oil.

New refinery for Zvijezda operational in Croatia

The company Zvijezda d.d. reports the start up of its new Desmet Ballestra refining processes.

It concerns a Multistock and Qualistock deodorizer, Sparbleach bleaching plant and Wintrend winterizing plant.

Zvijezda d.d. is the largest producer of edible oils and the only producer of margarine, vegetable fat, mayonnaise and mayonnaise-based delicatessen products in Croatia.

The company Kaleesuwari Refinery Private Ltd reports to have ordered its 8th Desmet Ballestra deodorizer for its new refining project.

The company Team Foods, a Columbian based palm oil company, has purchased a 300 TPD physical refining plant from Desmet Ballestra for its new palm oil facility in Morelia, Mexico.

Team Foods is one of the largest palm oil producer in the region.



20/02/2009 Second Desmet Ballestra refining project for OAO MAY - Kazakhstan

The company OAO MAY from Ust Kamenogorsk (Kazakhstan) has selected Desmet Ballestra as technical partner for the implementation of a new refinery.

The selected technologies comprise a Neutralising, Sparbleach Bleaching and  Qualistock Deodorising Plant .

The new plant , with a capacity of 150 TPD soft oils, will be fully automated. For OAO MAY, this is the second Desmet Ballestra plant. In 1999, the company invested already in a complete solvent extraction plant and a first Desmet Ballestra refinery. Desmet Ballestra organised for OAO MAY the financing of the project.



05/02/2009 New large extraction plant operational in France

The new Desmet Ballestra prepararation, prepressing and solvent extraction plant, supplied to the company Saipol in Le Mériot (France) have been officially inaugurated on February 5th 2009, in presence of Mr. Luc Chatel, French State secretary in charge of Industry and consumption.


The plant has a daily capacity of 3.100 TPD rapeseed.Saipol is a major player in the oils & fats sector in France, with several processing plants all over the country.

The company Kucukbay Yag SAN.A.S. reports to have selected Desmet Ballestra technologies for its new refining project in Izmir.

It includes a Multistock deodorizer of 150 TPD and a Hydrotherm Hydrogenation of 100 TPD.

Kucukbay Yag SAN.A.S. is a well known company in Turkey marketing refined sunflower, olive, corn, hazelnut and soybean oil under the brandname « Orkide », known for its quality.

The company Bunge Chia Tai (Tianjin) Protein Feed Technology Co.Ltd reports having started up its new Desmet Ballestra 4.000 TPD soybean crushing plant.

The project was made on a turnkey basis including preparation, hot dehulling and complete solvent extraction plant with a Reflex extractor.






20/01/2009 Third refinery started up for SCRM in Cameroon

The company Société Camerounaise de Raffinage Maya & Cie reports to have started up its third Desmet Ballestra palm oil refinery.

The refinery includes a 200 TPD dry pre-treatment, Sparbleach bleaching and Qualistock deodorising. The existing fractionation plant has been increased by 100 TPD.

Société Camerounaise de Raffinage Maya is the leading company in the oils & fats and soap industry in Cameroun since decades and is known for its quality products like Mayor and Savon May.

The company Slabmark Nigeria Limited, located in Ibadan (Nigeria), selected Desmet Ballestra as technical partner for the implementation of its new fractionation plant with a capacity of 100 TPD;

Slabmark Nigeria Limited is a subsidiary of Sudit Oil & Chemicals Limited, managed by Chief Tunde Kuku.

This investment will increase the total capacity on palm oil, driving Sudit Oil within the major players in Nigeria.





07/01/2009 New 600 TPD complete refinery for Lesieur Cristal

The company Lesieur Cristal, part of the international ONA group, selected Desmet Ballestra as technical partner for their new 600 TPD refinery. The new refinery will be located at the site of Aïn Harrouda, near Casablanca.

Lesieur Cristal is a major player in the agro industrial field in Morocco. Lesieur Cristal is involved in the crushing and refining of oil seeds and is marketing a wide range of refined quality oils.

The company Zarneni Hrani, located in Provadia, selected the Desmet Ballestra technologies for the implementation of their new preparation, prepressing and solvent extraction plant.

The company SODRUGESTVO based in Kaliningrad (Russia) reports the start up of its new Desmet Ballestra vegetable oil complex.

This complete project includes:
  • 1500TPD Soybean precleaning, drying, preparation, solvent extraction, meal & hulls grinding
  • 300TPD of same processes for White Flakes line
  • 400TPD physical refinery

A second complete 1.500TPD line is in the precommissioning process.




20/11/2008 New refinery in Mozambique

The company SOUTHERN REFINERIES , Matola – Maputo ( Mozambique), part of the  MAËVA Group, owned by Mr. Shemir Sokataly,  selected Desmet Ballestra as technical partner for the implementation of its new refinery and fractionation plant.

The new plant will have a capacity of 350 TPD and will be in production the last quarter of 2009.

The company Southern Refineries is well known in Mozambique and in the sub region through its brands MAËVA oil and MAËVA soap. Its actual soap production capacity is 10 T/H.

This investment will increase the total refining capacity on Palm, Soya and Sunflower to 500 TPD, driving the group within the major players in Southern Africa and in the sub region.

13/05/2008 New refinery in Pakistan

The company IMGC is to set up a Refinery at Port Qasim Karachi in Pakistan.

IMGC selected Desmet Ballestra as technical partner for setting up the Edible Oil Refinery, Processing unit and Packing plant with the latest technologies.

The contract has been signed by Mr. Sh. Amjad Rashid, Chairman, IMGC Edible Oil (Private) Ltd. Pakistan, and Mr. André Gheysen, Regional Manager of Desmet Ballestra .

Besides local supplies, a sizeable export target has been envisaged. It will provide job opportunities to over 500 workers.
The project will be completed by June 2009 with partial production from January 2009.

Prime Minister of Pakistan has kindly consented to perform stone laying ceremony in June 2008.




6/05/2008 National Innovative Award for Thai Edible Oils Co. Ltd (Thailand)

Thai Edible Oils Co. Ltd in Thailand - whose rice bran oil marketed under the brand name KING Rice Bran Oil, has received the National Innovative Award for being innovative to have the oil containing 4000 ppm oryzanol.

The National Innovative Award is a highly prestigious award where Thai Edible Oils Co. was awarded with the Thailand King Statue as an honor for the innovation.

We are pleased to announce that Desmet Ballestra has signed an agreement with the Company Allocco.
 
Allocco is an Argentinean company that designs and manufactures plants and equipment for the edible oil industry, and in particular in the field of preparation of oilseeds. They are based in Rosario which is located at 300 km from Buenos Aires and is the key location for the biggest crushing plants of our global customers.
 
The Molinos plant, as an example, is the biggest crushing plant in the world, with a capacity of 12.000 tons per day of soybean, and has been supplied by both Allocco (for the preparation) and by Desmet Ballestra (for the solvent extraction).
 
The agreement signed with Allocco is part of our strategy headed to re-inforce our position in the field of Oilseed Preparation which, in a period of high Biofuel demand, is an increasingly important market segment.

30/05/2007 New crushing plant for Zaporozhye in Ukraine

The Closed JSC ‘Zaporozhye Oil-Fat Company ‘ reports to have selected the Desmet Ballestra crushing technologies for the implementation of their new crushing plant.

This is the second project that Zaporozhye Oil-Fat Company does in partnership with Desmet Ballestra and comprises

- a sunflower seed dehulling of 1700 TPD
- a dehulled sunflower seed preparation and pre-pressing of 1450 TPD;
- a dehulled sunflower seed cake oil extraction of 800 TPD, including degumming;

The Closed JSC ‘Zaporozhye Oil-Fat Company‘ already installed a new Desmet Ballestra vegetable oils & fats refining complex in 2004.

This refinery is fully automated and comprises all the Desmet Ballestra processes including degumming, lecithin drying, neutralising, soapstock splitting , Hydrotherm hydrogenation, Interchem interesterification, Sparbleach bleaching and Multistock deodorising.

The Lam Soon Group reports to have selected the new Desmet Ballestra Statoliser palm kernel oil fractionation.
 
This is the first Lam Soon PKO Fractionation Plant to be installed in Pasir Gudang, Malaysia.
 
The Desmet Ballestra Statoliser fractionation is a patented process, very suitable to replace the tradional cold room system PKO fractionation used in the region.

The company Acor reports to have selected Desmet Ballestra as
technical partner for the implementation of a complete integrated biodiesel turnkey project in Spain.
 
The project comprises a biodiesel production plant of 100.000 TPY
with oil extraction plant and pre-treatment.
 
Desmet Ballestra is covering Spain and Portugal with a fully

13/03/2007 INEOS Enterprises selects Desmet Ballestra as Technical Partner for its European biodiesel growth strategy

INEOS Enterprises has announced the appointment of its key technical partner
for the delivery of its European biodiesel growth strategy.

Desmet Ballestra has been awarded the biodiesel technology contract and has begun its partnership with INEOS Enterprises by undertaking the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) for the new biodiesel plant at Grangemouth in Scotland, which will be at least 500 ktes capacity.

Desmet Ballestra is a world-class engineer of plants to process oils and fats, and is one of the leading suppliers of vegetable oil refining and biodiesel technologies.

Harry Deans, CEO INEOS Enterprises comments: “We are pleased to welcome Desmet Ballestra as a key partner to help us deliver our significant growth ambitions in biodiesel. Our aim is to achieve at least 2 million tonnes of biodiesel output by 2012, with some 1.2 million tonnes by 2010.”

INEOS Enterprises’ new biodiesel production facility at Grangemouth was announced in May 2006 and represents over €90 million investment in the region. Subject to planning consent and other permissions, it is expected that the facility will be operational by mid 2008.

INEOS Enterprises has more than 10 years experience in the biodiesel sector. The Company has already successfully secured French government support for its existing biodiesel plant at Baleycourt (France), which is currently undergoing a €70 million expansion to double output by 2008. In December 2006, INEOS Enterprises announced details of its proposals for a major investment in a new biodiesel facility at the INEOS site at Zwijndrecht in the Port of Antwerp.

Further to the bankruptcy of Fractionnement Tirtiaux early 2006, Desmet Ballestra is now in a position to service former Fractionnement Tirtiaux clients who are looking for specific Fractionnement Tirtiaux technology and processes.
 
Desmet Ballestra is able today to deliver Fractionnement Tirtiaux technology; like fractionation equipment, having bought over the specific tools of the former Fractionnement Tirtiaux workshop to produce the key components of the crystallisers.
 
Desmet Ballestra can even supply under the brand “Fractionnement Tirtiaux” the equipment upon request by the clients.
 
All R&D projects initiated with Fractionnement Tirtiaux in the past, can continue smoothly with the Desmet Ballestra R&D team as Desmet Ballestra acquired the pilot plants and R&D know how of the former R&D centre of Fractionnement Tirtiaux.

The company Blommer Chocolate reports to have selected the Desmet Ballestra cocoa butter deodorizer for its state-of-the-art plant in the USA.

New contract for EFKO (Russia)

The company JSC EFKO reports to have selected Desmet Ballestra technologies for their new project, located on a new site on the shore of the Azov sea.
 
This project includes :

  • 200 TPD sunflower oil degumming and chemical neutralisation
  • 650 TPD crude palm oil and degummed, neutral sunflower oil bleaching
  • 25 Ton batch hydrogenation unit with a 200 TPD post-treatment
  • 30 Ton batch chemical interesterification unit, combined
    with a 200 TPD post-treatment
  • 650 TPD Multistock deodorisation unit.
Over the last 10 years, JSC EFKO has realized 8 projects
with Desmet Ballestra as technical partner in Russia.

New 4.000 TPD crushing plant operational in China
 
The company Guangzhou Green Oil Industrial reports the smooth and successful start-up of its brand newsoy crushing complex near Zhongshan in Guandong province, China.
 
The 4.000 t/day facility is fully automated
and includes seeds drying and preparation,
as well as a complete solvent extraction plant.

All sections were provided by the Desmet
Ballestra Group and the greenfield project was entirely implemented by Desmet Ballestra
Shanghai.

New refinery for Agroproduct (Russia)
 
The company AGROPRODUCT, located in the town of Kropotkin in Krasnodar Region, has chosen Desmet Ballestra as technical partner for the implementation of their new vegetable oil complex.
 
The project includes a complete automated solvent extraction plant with a capacity of 550 TPD of dehulled sunflower seed cake or 430 TPD of rape seed cake, and a complete refinery of 450 TPD.

The company Agrosib, located in Barnaul, Altay region in Russia,
reports to have selected the Desmet Ballestra
technologies for their extraction and refining project.

This project includes building a new solvent extraction plant
of 270 tpd of dehulled sunflower seed cake and combined
physical/chemical refining plant 200 tpd.

This is the first project in the Far East of Russia.

The company P.A.S reports to have started up its state-of-the-art
Desmet Ballestra preparation and extraction plant of 1.000 TPD,
located in Sukothai (Thailand).

P.A.S processes mainly imported beans and some local bean from
the Northern part of Thailand.
 
This new extraction plant is the 4th one supplied by Desmet Ballestra
in the last 3 years in Thailand.

Thai Ruam Jai Vegetable Oil starts up its 2nd extraction plant (Thailand)

The company Thai Ruam Jai Vegetable Oil Co Ltd, presently operating
the largest rice bran extraction in the world, has started up its second Desmet Ballestra LM Extraction Plant for Thailand.
 
The owner, Mr Prasop Santiwattana says: ”With this new plant, RUAMJAI
has a total installed capacity of 800 t/d and added to our other existing plants,
will give a total of around 1.000 t/d rice bran extraction.”

New refinery in Vietnam
 
The company Vocarimex reports to have selected Desmet Ballestra technologies for the implementation of their new important refining plant located near Ho Chi Minh City.
 
Vocarimex is the National Company For Vegetable Oils, Aromas and Cosmetics of Vietnam, belonging to the Ministry of Industry of Vietnam.
 
Many other edible oil refining plants in Vietnam are joint ventures with Vocarimex.
This refining plant is a direct investment from Vocarimex.

Large capacity refinery for Kuok Oils & Grains in Rotterdam

The malaysian vegetable oil producer Kuok Oils & Grains (KOG) reports the start
up of new refinery and fractionation plant of large capacity in the port of Rotterdam(NL).

It includes the latest Desmet Ballestra technologies as Sparbleach Bleaching,
Qualistock Deodorising, Sublimax Ice Condensing, and Flexifrac Fractionation.
 
Kuok Oils & Grains is part of the Kuok Group, a major player in the vegetable oil field in Malaysia, with 7 refineries
processing 10.000 tons/day. Furthermore, Kuok Oils & Grains has plants in China, Vietnam and Bangladesh.
The new plant in Rotterdam is the first one in Europe.

The company EFKO reports to have awarded its 8th contract to Desmet Ballestra since 1996.
 
It concerns a new extraction plant 1.000 TPD of dehulled sunflower cake corresponding
to 1.700 TPD sunflower seed. The plant is located at Alexevka in the Belgorod Region.
 
Today the production site at EFKO Company has the whole range of oil and fats processing equipment
- preparation, extraction (2 plants),
- refining including Qualistock & Multistock  (2 plants),
- hydrogenation and interesterification (2 plants),
- fractionation.
During these years, EFKO has grown from a small enterprise into one of the main leading oils & fats companies on the Russian market.

The company Mewah Oils Sdn Bhd reports to have selected the latest Desmet Ballestra Statoliser technology  for its new  PKO dry fractionation plant of large capacity.

Guan Chong Cocoa Manufacturer Sdn Bhd reports to have selected the Desmet Ballestra Cobustrip technology for its new cocoa butter deodorizing project.
 
Guan Chong Cocoa Manufacturer  plant was established in 1991 and currently has an annual production capacity of over 60,000 metric tonnes of cocoa beans, making it one of the largest manufacturer of cocoa derived food ingredients in Malaysia with customers all over the world.

New crushing plant in Russia
 
The company Rusagro has chosen Desmet Ballestra technologies and equipment for building the new oil crushing plant of 1000 TPD, including preparation, pre-pressing, extraction and meal pelletizing sections.
The construction site is near the town Lisky, in the Voronezh Region. The plant will be into operation before the harvest time in 2006.

The company Oliefabriek Lichtervelde, located in Lichtervelde (Belgium) reports to have selected one Rosedowns Sterling prepress and 2 Rosedowns Sterling second presses for their new linseed processing plant.
Oliefabriek Lichtervelde is specialised in the processing of linseed, in a natural solvent-free way.

The company Zeeland Farms is a family company since many generations. Its name is well known in the vegetable oil market and stands for quality.
