The company Food Fats & Fertilisers Ltd selected Desmet Ballestra technologies
for the implementation of their new project in the port of  Krishnapatnum (India).

11/01/2010 New sieve-tray design stripper for Bunge (USA)

Bunge has chosen Desmet Ballestra for an oil stripper / oil dryer for their 4500 tpd soybean crushing plant in Cairo, Illinois, USA.  The oil stripper (new sieve-tray design) and the oil dryer are designed into a single vessel. The Desmet Ballestra sieve tray stripper technology  uses less steam and is simpler to maintain. The same facility also installed a new Desmet Ballestra Dimax DT last year.

07/01/2010 New 600 TPD complete refinery operational for Lesieur Cristal

The company Lesieur Cristal, part of the internal ONA group, selected Desmet Ballestra as technical partner for their new 600 TPD refinery. The new refinery is located at the site of Aïn Harrouda, near Casablanca.

Lesieur Cristal reports to have started up the refinery at a capacity of 660 TPD.

Lesieur Cristal is a major player in the agro industrial field in Morocco.

Desmet Ballestra has signed a Letter of Intend with ASG International GmbH to cooperate in technical and commercial matters related to the supply of plants for the conversion of Biomass to alternative liquid fuel (BtL).

ASG is an innovative engineering company, based in Switzerland, which amongst other activities has developed and is procuring a new technology for the conversion of (waste) biomass into Diesel fuel in a single step.

Both Desmet Ballestra and ASG desire to cooperate and develop a business relationship wherein both companies individual know-how and strength will result in engineering and supply packages for “green energy” production plants.

The cooperation will supply present and future customers with enhanced income possibilities from their present or future investments.

Additionally the „packages“ will be designed to reduce/diminish waste creation and CO₂ emission release to the environment.

26/10/2009 New refinery for Kuwait Flour Mills & Bakeries Co.

The company “Kuwait Flour Mills & Bakeries” has selected Desmet Ballestra as technical partner for the implementation of its new refinery in Kuwait.

The project consists in neutralizing, bleaching, winterizing and deodorizing processes with a capacity of 250 TPD.

The plant will be able to process a wide range of raw materials such as palm oil, soybean oil, sunflower oil, rapeseed oil and corn oil.

The company Riverina Oils & BioEnergy reports to have selected Desmet Ballestra technologies for their new project including preparation, prepressing, extraction and complete refining project.

The project concerns a 500 TPD safflower/canola/soybean crushing plant along with a 200 TPD physical/chemical refinery for Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia.

9/10/2009 New refinery for NBPOL in Liverpool

The company New Britain Palm Oil Limited (NBPOL) reports having selected Desmet Ballestra as technical partner for the implementation of its new palm oil refining project located in Liverpool (UK)

New Britain Palm Oil Limited is one of the first companies to be independently certified by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil as being a leader in the production of sustainable and ethical palm oil.

In September 2008, NBPOL’s operations in Papua New Guinea were officially certified as conforming to RSPO Principles and Criteria on sustainability.

8/10/2009 Increase of capacity for Victoria Oil A.D.

Oil Mill VICTORIA OIL A.D., member of VICTORIA GROUP, is a company processing soybeans, sunflower and rape seed and located in Sid (Serbia). The actual processing capacity is 600 tons sunflower or 500 tons rapeseed or 400 tons of soybeans per day. VICTORIA OIL selected Desmet Ballestra technologies to substantially increase the capacity of the extraction plant by addition of a new DTDC and by upgrading the distillation.

The new equipment will be delivered early December 2009.

The company Alicorp reports the start up of its second Desmet Ballestra Multistock deodorizer with a daily capacity of 750 TPD.

The  Med Oil Company reports the start up of its state-of-the-art Demet Ballestra vegetable oil refinery.

The new refinery comprises neutralizing, acid degumming, bleaching, winterizing and a Multistock deodorizing.

The capacity is 150 TPD. The new factory is located near Tunis.
Med Oil Company is part of the Poulina Group, a leading Tunisian group.

06/07/2009 New Interzym Interesterification for Alimentos Polar

The company Alimentos Polar Comercial C.A., in Venezuela, reports the start up of its new Desmet Ballestra Interzym Interesterification plant with a capacity of 80 TPD.

Desmet Ballestra has developed an enzymatic interesterification technology, called Interzym, in collaboration with the company Novozymes (Denmark), the worldwide leader in enzymes production.

Enzymatic interesterification is an efficient way of controlling the melting characteristics of edible oils & fats.

02/07/2009 Upgrade of distillation in the USA

South Dakota Soybean Processors has purchased a new Desmet Ballestra Sieve-Tray Oil Stripper for their soybean processing facility in Volga, South Dakota.

The new Sieve-Tray Oil Stripper is a state-of-the-art oil stripping technology that provides very intimate steam/oil contact to minimize stripping steam while at the same time providing a robust design that withstands fouling.

Lam Soon reports to have selected Desmet Ballestra technologies for its new project in Thailand.

The project includes a complete 300 TPD physical refining plant and dry fractionation.

21/05/2009 New refinery in Colombia

Agudelo Muzzulini & Cia, a family owned company from Cali, Colombia with a long history in the rendering and tallow business, has chosen Desmet Ballestra for its new 100 TPD physical refinery. They plan to branch out from tallow and also process palm oil and refined soybean oil in the new facility.

Agudelo Muzzulini & Cia reports that the investment was made for its new company called Refinal SA.

08/05/2009 Partnership of OriginOil with Desmet Ballestra

OriginOil, a leading algae process development company from Los Angeles, California,
USA has announced a partnership with Desmet Ballestra for commercializing their patent
pending algae oil extraction technology.

OriginOil has developed a novel process for lysing algae cells and separating the oil from the spent algal biomass and water in a single step. By extracting algae oil in the water-rich phase, significant energy savings can be realized by minimizing dewatering and drying energy.

The company United Oil Processing & Packaging reports to have selected the Desmet Ballestra Technologies for the implementation of its new refinery.

The new project includes a 600 TPD palm oil refining plant and a 350 TPD Fractionation plant with 'Mobulizer' crystallisers.

United Oil Processing & Packaging is also the first company in Egypt using the  enzymatic degumming for soft oils with the support of Desmet Ballestra partner Novozymes. The new plant will be implemented in Cairo-10th of Ramadan.

The company Anadani Group selected Desmet Ballestra as technical partner for their new extraction and refining project in Syria. The project includes a complete 500 TPD solvent extraction plant and 100 TPD refining plant for soft oils including bleaching/winterising and deodorising technologies.

The company Team Foods, a Columbian based palm oil company, has purchased a 300 TPD physical refining plant from Desmet Ballestra for its new palm oil facility in Morelia, Mexico.

20/02/2009 Second Desmet Ballestra refining project for OAO MAY - Kazakhstan

The company OAO MAY from Ust Kamenogorsk (Kazakhstan) has selected Desmet Ballestra as technical partner for the implementation of a new refinery.

The selected technologies comprise a Neutralising, Sparbleach Bleaching and  Qualistock Deodorising Plant .

The new plant , with a capacity of 150 TPD soft oils, will be fully automated. For OAO MAY, this is the second Desmet Ballestra plant. In 1999, the company invested already in a complete solvent extraction plant and a first Desmet Ballestra refinery. Desmet Ballestra organised for OAO MAY the financing of the project.



05/02/2009 New large extraction plant operational in France

The new Desmet Ballestra prepararation, prepressing and solvent extraction plant, supplied to the company Saipol in Le Mériot (France) have been officially inaugurated on February 5^th 2009, in presence of Mr. Luc Chatel, French State secretary in charge of Industry and consumption.


The plant has a daily capacity of 3.100 TPD rapeseed.Saipol is a major player in the oils & fats sector in France, with several processing plants all over the country.

The company Kucukbay Yag SAN.A.S. reports to have selected Desmet Ballestra technologies for its new refining project in Izmir.

20/11/2008 New refinery in Mozambique

The company SOUTHERN REFINERIES , Matola – Maputo ( Mozambique), part of the  MAËVA Group, owned by Mr. Shemir Sokataly,  selected Desmet Ballestra as technical partner for the implementation of its new refinery and fractionation plant.

The new plant will have a capacity of 350 TPD and will be in production the last quarter of 2009.

The company Southern Refineries is well known in Mozambique and in the sub region through its brands MAËVA oil and MAËVA soap. Its actual soap production capacity is 10 T/H.

This investment will increase the total refining capacity on Palm, Soya and Sunflower to 500 TPD, driving the group within the major players in Southern Africa and in the sub region.

13/03/2007 INEOS Enterprises selects Desmet Ballestra as Technical Partner for its European biodiesel growth strategy

INEOS Enterprises has announced the appointment of its key technical partner
for the delivery of its European biodiesel growth strategy.

Desmet Ballestra has been awarded the biodiesel technology contract and has begun its partnership with INEOS Enterprises by undertaking the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) for the new biodiesel plant at Grangemouth in Scotland, which will be at least 500 ktes capacity.

Desmet Ballestra is a world-class engineer of plants to process oils and fats, and is one of the leading suppliers of vegetable oil refining and biodiesel technologies.

Harry Deans, CEO INEOS Enterprises comments: “We are pleased to welcome Desmet Ballestra as a key partner to help us deliver our significant growth ambitions in biodiesel. Our aim is to achieve at least 2 million tonnes of biodiesel output by 2012, with some 1.2 million tonnes by 2010.”

INEOS Enterprises’ new biodiesel production facility at Grangemouth was announced in May 2006 and represents over €90 million investment in the region. Subject to planning consent and other permissions, it is expected that the facility will be operational by mid 2008.

The Company has already successfully secured French government support for its existing biodiesel plant at Baleycourt (France), which is currently undergoing a €70 million expansion to double output by 2008. Barclays Private Equity just acquired a majority stake in Desmet Ballestra, the world leader in the fields of engineering and supply of plants and equipment for the edible oil industry, the detergent-surfactants and related chemical industry, the oleochemical and biodiesel industry. The management team will simultaneously invest in the group equity.
 
Desmet Ballestra benefits from a great worldwide reputation, thanks to 60 years of unequalled experience, a strong R&D capacity and most extensive customer references in the industry. The group has a network of 15 local subsidiaries throughout the world and a track record of setting up more than 6,000 processing units in 148 countries.

Further to the bankruptcy of Fractionnement Tirtiaux early 2006, Desmet Ballestra is now in a position to service former Fractionnement Tirtiaux clients who are looking for specific Fractionnement Tirtiaux technology and processes.
 
Desmet Ballestra is able today to deliver Fractionnement Tirtiaux technology; like fractionation equipment, having bought over the specific tools of the former Fractionnement Tirtiaux workshop to produce the key components of the crystallisers.
 
Desmet Ballestra can even supply under the brand “Fractionnement Tirtiaux” the equipment upon request by the clients.

The company Blommer Chocolate reports to have selected the Desmet Ballestra cocoa butter deodorizer for its state-of-the-art plant in the USA.
 
Blommer Chocolate is a fully integrated chocolate and cocoa manufacturer serving customers around the world. The company was founded in 1939 in Chicago, Illinois by Henry Blommer, Sr., and his two brothers Al and Bernard. 

The company manufactures a broad array of chocolate, cocoa powder and specialty coating, including its Signature Line of chocolates and specialty alkalized cocoas, custom formulated to serve the confectionary, baking and dairy industries. 

The company operates three facilities strategically located across the United States, which give it the unique ability to respond quickly to customers’ needs.  The company is still family owned and operated and has grown to become the largest cocoa bean processor and chocolate manufacturer in North America.




22/11/2006 New contract for EFKO (Russia)

The company JSC EFKO reports to have selected Desmet Ballestra technologies for their new project, located on a new site on the shore of the Azov sea.
 
This project includes :

• 200 TPD sunflower oil degumming and chemical neutralisation
  
• 650 TPD crude palm oil and degummed, neutral sunflower oil bleaching
  
• 25 Ton batch hydrogenation unit with a 200 TPD post-treatment
  
• 30 Ton batch chemical interesterification unit, combined
  with a 200 TPD post-treatment
  
• 650 TPD Multistock deodorisation unit.

Over the last 10 years, JSC EFKO has realized 8 projects
with Desmet Ballestra as technical partner in Russia.

The company KOEC ( Khorramshar Oil Extraction Project) reports
to have selected Desmet Ballestra preparation and solvent
extraction technologies for the implementation of their
new 1.000 T/D crushing project.

13/11/2006 New 4.000 TPD crushing plant operational in China
 
The company Guangzhou Green Oil Industrial reports the smooth and successful start-up of its brand newsoy crushing complex near Zhongshan in Guandong province, China.
 
The 4.000 t/day facility is fully automated
and includes seeds drying and preparation,
as well as a complete solvent extraction plant.

All sections were provided by the Desmet
Ballestra Group and the greenfield project was entirely implemented by Desmet Ballestra
Shanghai.




10/10/2006 New refinery for Agroproduct (Russia)
 
The company AGROPRODUCT, located in the town of Kropotkin in Krasnodar Region, has chosen Desmet Ballestra as technical partner for the implementation of their new vegetable oil complex.
 
The project includes a complete automated solvent extraction plant with a capacity of 550 TPD of dehulled sunflower seed cake or 430 TPD of rape seed cake, and a complete refinery of 450 TPD.




04/09/2006 Inauguration of new refinery in Iran
 
The company Jahan, located in Iran celebrated
the inauguration of their brand new refinery of large capacity.

The management of Desmet Ballestra was present at the ceremony.

Desmet Ballestra is active in Iran since 30 years and has built
13 vegetable oil factories.










15/08/2006 New complete vegetable oil factory in Russia

The company Agrosib, located in Barnaul, Altay region in Russia,
reports to have selected the Desmet Ballestra
technologies for their extraction and refining project.

This project includes building a new solvent extraction plant
of 270 tpd of dehulled sunflower seed cake and combined
physical/chemical refining plant 200 tpd.

This is the first project in the Far East of Russia.






20/07/2006 New refinery in Nigeria
 
The company Comfort Oil Ltd, located in Lagos (Nigeria), reports to to have selected Desmet Ballestra
as technical partner for their new palm oil refining plant.
 
This will be the 20^th refinery that Desmet Ballestra is installing in Nigeria.




19/06/2006 New Dryer Cooler for Cargill

The company Cargill reports to have started up a new Desmet Ballestra
Dryer Cooler in their extraction plant located in Antwerp.

Cargill is an international provider of food, agricultural and risk
management products and services with 142,000 employees in 61 countries.

The 17 Desmet Ballestra offices are servicing the Cargill plants all over
the world in the fields of pressing, extraction, refining, fat modification
on the 5 continents, since decades.





15/06/2006 New 1.000 TPD soybean extraction plant in Thailand
 
The company P.A.S reports to have started up its state-of-the-art
Desmet Ballestra preparation and extraction plant of 1.000 TPD,
located in Sukothai (Thailand).

P.A.S processes mainly imported beans and some local bean from
the Northern part of Thailand.
 
This new extraction plant is the 4th one supplied by Desmet Ballestra
in the last 3 years in Thailand.





01/06/2006 Thai Ruam Jai Vegetable Oil starts up its 2nd extraction plant (Thailand)

The company Thai Ruam Jai Vegetable Oil Co Ltd, presently operating
the largest rice bran extraction in the world, has started up its second Desmet Ballestra LM Extraction Plant for Thailand.
 
The owner, Mr Prasop Santiwattana says: ”With this new plant, RUAMJAI
has a total installed capacity of 800 t/d and added to our other existing plants,
will give a total of around 1.000 t/d rice bran extraction.”

The Saipol group reports to have selected the Desmet Ballestra
technologies for the implementation of their new large capacity pressing
and extraction plant for rapeseed, to be installed in Le Mériot (France)
 
Saipol is a major player in the oils & fats sector in France, with several processing plants all over the country.




17/04/2006 Large Fractionation in Vietnam
 
The company TUONG AN VEGETABLE OIL JOINT STOCK COMPANY reports to have selected the Desmet Ballestra technologies for the implementation of its new fractionation project.
 
The project includes the supply of a 400 TPD Flexifrac Fractionation plant.

TUONG AN VEGETABLE OIL is one of the largest refineries in Vietnam

20/03/2006 New refinery in Vietnam
 
The company Vocarimex reports to have selected Desmet Ballestra technologies for the implementation of their new important refining plant located near Ho Chi Minh City.
 
Vocarimex is the National Company For Vegetable Oils, Aromas and Cosmetics of Vietnam, belonging to the Ministry of Industry of Vietnam.
 
Many other edible oil refining plants in Vietnam are joint ventures with Vocarimex.
This refining plant is a direct investment from Vocarimex.






06/02/2006 Large capacity refinery for Kuok Oils & Grains in Rotterdam

The malaysian vegetable oil producer Kuok Oils & Grains (KOG) reports the start
up of new refinery and fractionation plant of large capacity in the port of Rotterdam(NL).

It includes the latest Desmet Ballestra technologies as Sparbleach Bleaching,
Qualistock Deodorising, Sublimax Ice Condensing, and Flexifrac Fractionation.
 
Kuok Oils & Grains is part of the Kuok Group, a major player in the vegetable oil field in Malaysia, with 7 refineries
processing 10.000 tons/day. Furthermore, Kuok Oils & Grains has plants in China, Vietnam and Bangladesh.
The new plant in Rotterdam is the first one in Europe.




20/12/2005  Additional Extraction Plant for EFKO (Russia)
 
The company EFKO reports to have awarded its 8^th contract to Desmet Ballestra since 1996.
 
It concerns a new extraction plant 1.000 TPD of dehulled sunflower cake corresponding
to 1.700 TPD sunflower seed. The plant is located at Alexevka in the Belgorod Region.
 
Today the production site at EFKO Company has the whole range of oil and fats processing equipment

- preparation, extraction (2 plants),
- refining including Qualistock & Multistock  (2 plants),
- hydrogenation and interesterification (2 plants),
- fractionation.

During these years, EFKO has grown from a small enterprise into one of the main leading oils & fats companies on the Russian market.

The company Cai Lan Oils & Fats Industries company Ltd reports to have selected Desmet Ballestra as technical partner for their new refinery , located in Southern Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City.
The plant is a 600 tpd physical refining for Palm Oil.

Cai Lan Oils & Fats Industries is part of the KUOK group.

The company  BAKU Oil & Food Industry J.S.C. (Azerbaijan) reports to have selected the Desmet Ballestra Multistock Deodoriser and the Sublimax Ice Condensing System for their deodorizing project of 200 TPD.
 
BAKU Oil & Food Industry J.S.C. is part of Azersun Group, active in tea production, sugar, vegetable oil and foodstuff in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Dubai, Iran and Turkey.

They are a leading company in Azerbaijan.

The company Mewah Oils Sdn Bhd reports to have selected the latest Desmet Ballestra Statoliser technology  for its new  PKO dry fractionation plant of large capacity.
 
Mewah is one of the largest oil refiners in Malaysia, concentrating themselves mainly in bulk oils.
 
When Mewah Oils Sdn Bhd decided to enter in specialty fats, Desmet Ballestra was shortlisted as technical partner.

Guan Chong Cocoa Manufacturer Sdn Bhd reports to have selected the Desmet Ballestra Cobustrip technology for its new cocoa butter deodorizing project.
 
Guan Chong Cocoa Manufacturer  plant was established in 1991 and currently has an annual production capacity of over 60,000 metric tonnes of cocoa beans, making it one of the largest manufacturer of cocoa derived food ingredients in Malaysia with customers all over the world.
 
Guan Chong Cocoa latest production process is using the most modern and state of the art technology and is supported by a team of knowledgeable and dedicated staff of chemists, food technologists and engineers to provide the market with quality cocoa products under the Favorich brand name.

25/11/2005 New crushing plant in Russia
 
The company Rusagro has chosen Desmet Ballestra technologies and equipment for building the new oil crushing plant of 1000 TPD, including preparation, pre-pressing, extraction and meal pelletizing sections.
The construction site is near the town Lisky, in the Voronezh Region. The plant will be into operation before the harvest time in 2006.

The company Emek Yag reports to have selected the De Smet Qualistock technology
for its new deodorising line of 300 TPD.
 
Emek Yag also started up very recently the De Smet Sublimax Ice Condensing system for
its existing refinery located in Bursa (Turkey).

The company Oliefabriek Lichtervelde, located in Lichtervelde (Belgium) reports to have selected one Rosedowns Sterling prepress and 2 Rosedowns Sterling second presses for their new linseed processing plant.
Oliefabriek Lichtervelde is specialised in the processing of linseed, in a natural solvent-free way.

The company Associated Proteins LP, located in Saint Agathe, Manitoba, Canada,
reports to have purchased a 350 tpd Desmet Ballestra Qualistock Deodorizer. 
 
Associated Proteins LP is running a 1.000 tpd rapeseed full press plant.

Associated Proteins LP is a major player in the market of the solvent-free
vegetable oil and claim to operate one of the largest plants in this market

The company TUONG AN VEGETABLE OIL JOINT STOCK COMPANY reports to have selected the Desmet Ballestra technologies for the implementation of its new refining project.



The project includes the supply of a 150 tpd neutralising line and a 600 tpd
physical refining plant.

TUONG AN VEGETABLE OIL is one of the largest refineries in Vietnam

The company Zeeland Farms in Zeeland, Michigan, USA, reports to have selected the latest Desmet Ballestra Deodorizing technologies for their new investment. The project comprizes a 450 tpd Qualistock FS deodorizer for soybean oil.

The company Zeeland Farms is a family company since many generations. Its name is well known in the vegetable oil market and stands for quality.

Desmet Ballestra is servicing North America with a fully technical staffed office in Atlanta.
